Pupil Parliament at Applegarth Academy
At Applegarth Academy, our Pupil Parliament provides a platform for children to voice their ideas, concerns, and passions. It empowers our pupils to play an active role in shaping their school experience and making a positive impact on our community.
Led by our Pupil Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Environmental Minister, Rights Respecting Ministers, Eco-Warriors, Communication Ministers, Events Ministers and Class Ministers representing each year group from Year 1 to Year 6, every child has the opportunity to be heard and contribute to meaningful discussions.
What does the Pupil Parliament at Applegarth Academy do?
Our Pupil Parliament members develop valuable leadership skills, amplify pupil voice, and inspire engagement across the school. They champion children's rights, encourage collaboration, and connect with the wider community to bring about change. By working together, they ensure that every pupil at Applegarth Academy feels valued and represented.
Hello! I am Jeremiah the Pupil Prime Minister.
It is my job to make sure everyone is listened to and heard. I will listen to your questions and suggestions to help make Applegarth an even better place. I will ensure that I represent our academy the best way possible.
Deputy Prime Minister - Jenson
Hi, I’m Jenson, and I’m the Deputy Prime Minister of Applegarth Academy. My role is to support Jeremiah, our Pupil Prime Minister, in representing the voices of all our pupils and ensuring everyone feels heard.
It is also my job to make sure all the pupils in the school are happy coming to school. I work with my fellow ministers to organise events for everyone to enjoy.
Rights Respecting Ministers - Manashvee and Samreen
Hi, we are Manashvee and Samreen and we are the Rights Respecting Ministers at Applegarth Academy.
At Applegarth, we are an anti-racist school, and so we work closely with our Pupil Parliament and staff to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion. Using our EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) calendar as a guide, we help run initiatives and events that celebrate our differences and bring us closer together. It is also our role to teach the children in the school their rights and ensure that they are being respected. Each week we choose the right of the week and present it in assembly!
Eco-Warriors - Elaina, Benjamin and Kesh.
Hi, we are Elaina, Benjamin and Kesh and we are proud to be the Eco-Warriors at Applegarth Academy. Our role is to raise awareness about important environmental issues and help our Academy reduce waste, save energy, and look after our natural world. We also work with the Site team to make sure that our learning evnironments are clean and that we have a safe and fun time in school.
Communication Ministers - Aniyah-Leigh and Frankie
Hi, we are Aniyah-Leigh and Frankie and we're excited to work together as the Communications Minister at Applegarth Academy. Our role is all about ensuring clear and open communication across our school!
We do this by meeting regularly and taking ideas from pupils across the school to share with the rest of Pupil Parliament. We are also in charge of creating the newsletters and ensuring that the assembly hall and slides are ready for assemblies.
Events Ministers- Matthew, Layla and Zion
Hi, we are the Events Ministers at Applegarth Academy and our names are Matthew, Layla and Zion!
It is our job to assist the teachers in planning different amazing events within our school. We do this by thinking ahead to dates that can be celebrated that reflect the diversity within our community. We also work with the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to support the running of these events.
